Ken Slossberg was born and spent his childhood in West Hartford, Connecticut. Before starting high school, his family moved to Boca Raton, Florida where they all continue to reside. Ken left home to go to college in New Orleans where he was graduated from Tulane University School of Architecture. The design, art and architectural history he studied in school and the rich creative and cultural environment of New Orleans enhanced his earlier interest and eye for art and nurtured his creative talents.

The realities of architecture as a career however, he found ultimately too frustrating and oppressive of his creativity. So after 5 years of working as an architect, he decided to pursue a career in the other area of his affection and interest, the animal world and the human relationship with it. He started over, returned to school for 7 years and was graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts.

Ken currently resides and is still working as a veterinarian in the San Diego, California area. Although he continues to find veterinary medicine very rewarding and enjoyable, he missed having an outlet for creative expression. He began painting in 2001 under the tutelage of well known California artist Stuart Burton, at the Art Academy of San Diego, and has found a wonderful balance, utilizing his warmth, compassion, intellect and loving, unique vision of both people and animals.
